Oh boy, don't know if Andy's going the right thing here right now. He seems to be more concerned about winning that bet against Cooper than about the actual job and than Emery's proposition, so who knows what could happen. I admit, I hope there's not some shocking "50 Shades" swerve here, since Emery's being quite kind and stuff, so having him be the complete opposite behind closed doors...
this is three ways backwards its horrid/wonderful XD
first off, it is a valid promotion opportunity and the one offering is being honest.
then there's the oops of moral "well uhh" but gets removed by "nope i'm gonna win" before risks even come to play
and the third dog has no clue what's going on XD

It's wonderful to see the exposition pulled off from the few pages released so far.
Andy having the impulsive moment for what I assume is from an honest employee who isn't much of a risk taker is pulled off well when given an opportunity to humiliate his coworker (due to the bet).
From this angle you get the reader's sympathy even if the reader might realize that Andy might get more than he bargained for, but for the moment in time the short term goals have been realized by winning the bet.
Cooper's attempt to tamper Andy's chances ironically helped him get him this offer, which adds to poetry in Andy's negotiation for the position. Andy might not tell Cooper it was because of him that the Retriever got the job, but it certainly was a major backfire that he honestly deserves. At least, for the time being we are lead to believe.
It's always enjoyable to read a comic that invokes such intricacies even if it's an imaginative office politics scenario~

I love it that Cooper has his tie undone. Details like that really add to his disheveled and crestfallen demeanor at the moment, which leaves you posing the question, just why exactly is Cooper following them around? Jealous co-worker rivalry? Or clearly for loves sake? He could be heartbroken? His face in the third last panel doesn't really give me a reading of what his intentions are...and I like it.
