King's Knight was one of Square's more underappreciated games from back in their heyday. If you look closely, you can tell that they drew inspiration for a lot of Final Fantasy from it - including the job system. Barusa in particulsr was a literal Dragon Knight in the game, called a Gigant at the time.
King's Knight came out a year before the original Final Fantasy did in Japan, in the year 1986. However, its own success was overshadowed by Final Fantasy 1. In fact, everyone basically forgot the game even existed until 20 years later, when Square decided to remake the game and it FINALLY got the recognition it deserved.
