Argoniac / Argoni Information by
e.b.a.h
Home Planet Info -
The home planet of the Argoni is panthalassic; containing a substantial amount of surface-based water, most likely being naturally occurring oceans. The planet also seems to be home to rather substantial jungle or rainforest type areas of land. The planet itself, codenamed νερό, is said to be located in a star system particularly close to our own.
νερό is said to be a planet with an atmosphere incredibly similar to our own, making it possible for future in-depth exploration and possibly Argoni-Human cohabitation on νερό. Average temperature of νερό tends towards high temperatures considered to be extreme by Human standards. It is claimed that the actual structure of the planet itself is a mineralogical treasure trove, however there are no current talks of mineral-exchange, trade, or mining on or within the surface of νερό.
According to the Argoni the deep oceans of νερό are very dangerous and expeditions must be well-prepared to deal with extremely hostile aquatic lifeforms. Land-based Argoni also insist that the jungles are no safer.
Physical Traits
The Argoni seem to share many traits in common with tropical-based lizards, but also show strong examples of sexual dimorphism, possibly showing more favor to the females of the species. Both males and females have common humanoid traits; two arms, two legs, to eyes, to ears, a nose, mouth, etc. Argoni are built to move mostly bipedally, but they are known to be very flexible and are incredibly powerful swimmers. Argoni hands and feet, as well as their ears, are far different from Human. Argoni hands and feet sport large digits and seem to sport no more than three or four digits. For most Argoni, though the planet they inhabit is classified as panthalassic, webbing is more uncommon than not. Instead of soft skin they sport skin very similar to that or an iguana. They also sport tails that seem to normally be as long as they are tall that are fully prehensile. Both males and female seem to have horns on the front of their head, with the normal number or horns seeming to be two, with rostral horns being extremely uncommon. Surprisingly, Argoni also tend to sport a parietal eye, which in extremely rare occasions is either doubled or develops into a fully active and functioning eye. Argoni also seem to have a nictitating membrane that is closed by default, giving Argoni eyes a milky and possibly ethereal appearance to them.
Argoni can live anywhere from 100 to upwards of 200 years.
Females
Female Argoni are the larger of the two base sexes. The average height of a female Argoni is anywhere from six to six feet and several inches, and tend to be built hardier and stockier than the males. Female horns are much larger and thicker than those of the male Argoni, and females also tend to be born with naturally occurring patches of jagged scale-like structures or spikes on their arms, legs, hands, and face. An Argoni female’s ears are naturally larger than those of the males, as well as their eyes and noses being slightly larger. While not longer than the tales of the males, a female Argoni’s tail is ribbed, and females have the ability to detach or “drop” the end segments of their tail so that they might escape a hungry predator. Female Argoni, unlike the males, are usually darker and natural in color, most likely to easily blend into their surroundings to make it easier to hunt.
Males
Male Argoni are the smaller of the two base sexes. The average height of a male Argoni is anywhere from five feet to five feet and several inches, and they tend to be built far smaller than the females. The horns of the males are much smaller and smoother than those of the females, with their skin being much smoother and usually lacking any kind of other defensive development unlike the females. Male Argoni ears are much smaller than female ears, but tend to be much longer, and their eyes and noses tend to be smaller as well. Male Argoni tails are smooth and, while still capable of detaching or “dropping” their tails, it takes much longer for a male Argoni’s tail to grow back to its normal size. Male Argoni, unlike the females, are usually bright and vibrant colors that are accented with naturally occurring patterns, most likely to help in the attraction of a mate.
“Other”
Argoni address the occurrence of “other genders” very simply. Argoni individuals who are born either with hermaphroditic tendencies or intersex simply identify as the gender than they wish to be seen as. The occurrence of such individuals is rather uncommon, and they tend to physically carry both the physical traits of male and female Argoni.
Mutations / Uncommon Traits
While mutations are entirely possible it is still a very rare occurrence, and it is very rare that any one Argoni would possess multiple mutations. Those who do carry multiple uncommon traits are seen with a solemn reverence rather than fear, and are seen as an omen of things to come. Such uncommon traits include but are not limited to:
- Only one horn, or more than two
- Rostral horns of any number
- Fully function parietal eye, or multiple parietal eyes
- Heterochromia of any kind
- Multiple limbs and/or appendages
- Large amount of webbing
- Monochrome colors; black, white, or grey
- Longer or shorter tails
- Having more than four or less than three digits
- Dull colored males
- Brightly colored females
Emotional Traits:
Argoni as a whole are viewed as “tough, but fair” when it comes to each other as well as other races. Though each Argoni will have their own personality, Argoni are viewed as relatively lively and energetic individuals. They tend to also be seen as very reasonable and logical individuals most of the time, as they believe that to be overly angry is a waste of energy that could be put towards doing other things. It is said that it is particularly difficult to get an Argoni angry, but to be very careful should you ever manage to do it. It is said that an Argoni can hold a grudge longer than they can hold their breath under water. In truth, Argoni can be as calm and rational or as emotionally aggressive as any other individual.
Sex / Gender
Argoni are very open and accepting about the concept of sex and genders and how people wish to be viewed and accepted. An Argoni’s sex is only truly important when it comes to increasing their numbers. When it comes to gender it is a simple as any one individual simply being viewed and accepted as how they want to be viewed and accepted. While sex divergence/mutation does occur within the Argoni species it is not always seen as something odd, strange, or fascinating and is only celebrated in situations where that particular sex is lacking within that specific tribe or community.
While it may appear that females and female identifying individuals have a larger sway in the Argoni community, both males and females are heard and respected equally.
Physical Capabilities:
Argoni, both male and female, are very athletically built. The vast majority of their strength are in their swimming, and the ability to hold their breath underwater. Argoni have a strange, simple set of gills that are tucked away in the back of the mouth, allowing them to somewhat breathe in shallower levels of water. Due to their nictitating membrane they can keep their eyes open under water, and their eyes have also adapted to see in the darkness that comes with deeper levels of water.
Culture/ Society:
The Argoni, though very intelligent and progressively forward, seem to follow a more tribal way of lifestyle. They are a hunter-gather species, omnivorous in nature, that seems to heavily favor females of the species. The Argoni are, usually, a very openly curious species, though can be incredibly superstitious and weary of strangers. Though generally peaceful, Argoni can tend towards being very territorial during the months where food and fresh water are harder to come by.
Female Argoni outwardly seem to be the cornerstone of Argoni society. The females are the hunters of their tribes and communities, as well as seemingly the majority of the frontline of defense when it comes to hostile situations. The males, in contrast, are the gatherers, and the ones normally to keep the home and look after the tribal clutch.
Relationships and Children
Argoni females and female-bodied individuals lay eggs, which are usually all kept together in a communal clutch. Usually, most if not all of the males of the tribe will tend to the clutch and, once the children hatch, they will be under the care of the entire tribe regardless of who laid that specific child. Argoni seem to have taken the saying “It takes a whole village to raise a child” very seriously.
What is possibly the strangest part of Argoni culture is their view on relationships. Due to the dangerous nature of νερό, reproduction is very important. Because of this, reproduction is not kept specifically between established couples, but it seen as more of a duty of the entire tribe. Depending on how large or small the tribe or community, it may even become mandatory for female-bodied individuals contribute to the tribe’s clutch.
As for relationships, Argoni relationships seem to depend entirely on the size of the tribe or community. In smaller communities of Argoni they tend to develop polyamorous relationships that naturally occur over time simply due to the close-knit nature of the community. In contrast, Argoni from larger communities tend to find it much simpler and more effective to focus their attention on one specific other individual, made easier by the fact that other things such as egg production are not borderline mandatory, therefore a deep relationship with many others isn’t entirely necessary.

Very cool of you to release the base for free. : 3
I'll look for the species information sheet(s) and see if I might can get some more in the community for you : p
And of course all credit to you, and I'll try to show you what I come up with when I get some done (whenever that may be /p)
