A suggeestion: Try Liquid luster car wax, ith an orbital waxer. it will completely take out any chalkiness from the paint. Also there are airbrushers that fix dents, their trade might be applied to that rust spot. I like the name "ghost" it kind of fits just as you say. Lastly, don't look back. This is an investment that can only appriciate if you take care of it
