The Hunter King Dagoth created four Elder Dragons to look after the Dragonbone Pillars and safeguard his most precious prizes and dreaded secrets. In the deepest parts of Drakkengarde is a Void Gate. It has been dormant for some time, but even Dagoth knew better than to toy with the Dark. So he built the Rathole upon it--an underground sewer prison that would contain the Void Gate and all who were detained there.
To enforce this, he created Infinitus the Void Watcher to protect it. Though it had remained vigilant, years of exposure to the Dark have corrupted the Elder Dragon, making it go mad and consuming everything inside the Rathole. Now the Rathole is a devoid, lifeless ruin where the only thing remaining is Infinitus itself and whatever gets inside doesn't ever come back out.
