Hey there everybody! Got a short story for you all...
But first I would like to thank my good friend
takinoue who not only did the picture for this story but help inspire this story with a suggestion! =D Thank you very much!
Now, with that said...
For the longest time I've been mulling over the question of "How do I make Petie a better battler with the moves he can actually use?"... how to make him a stronger fighter, how to give him something unique to use... now I have the answer =3
What is that answer? Read to find out, see what happens during Petie's latest training session with Rose to inspire this~
Anyway please enjoy, fav & comment (since I'm REALLY eager to hear what you think of this~), and have a great day ^,^

It was a bright and sunny Saturday in Viridian City. In the residential district the sounds of the birds chirping in the trees, the distant hustle bustle of the city, and the nearby hum of Viridian Forest created a gentle harmony to go with the serene backdrop. Save for the steady, almost rhythmic call of “Again” delivered in a deep female voice that echoed through the neighborhood and was the only disturbance to the harmony. It tolled lightly across the block like it was keeping time to a clock and originated from behind the high fence of one of the houses. Everyone on that block knew that house had several kids in it, including babies, pre-schoolers (judging by appearances alone), and teens. It was also common knowledge that the eldest attended the Pokemon Combat academy. Everyone just assumed the noise was combat training. They were right of course but if they went to the effort to peek over the tall fence surrounding the backyard they’d be in for a surprise when they saw just WHO was doing the training…
“Again!”
“Euh!” Petie grunted as he launched into his Feint Attack, Fury Swipes combo once more. The blushing teddiursa’s swipes and strikes were wobbly and unfocused. He’d been at this training regimen for an hour now and was too tired to pay attention to what he was doing, as well as too busy blushing, fretting, and feeling humiliated. The bright pink of his cheeks stood out compared to the soft whites and pastel blues of his outfit… making it much worse because of WHAT that outfit was. The puffy onesie was light and cool despite hugging his diapers snuggly, the matching baby bonnet kept Petie’s head cool and the brim kept the sun off his face, and the modified baby booties he was wearing fit well and the treads added to the bottom kept him from slipping as he waddled… none of this made up for (at least to Petie it didn’t) the fact that the tiny, baby-like, diapered teddiursa teen was dressed like an adorable baby! Even more so than usual.
“Alright, lets take a break.” His “Coach” chimed as Petie plopped bottom first on the ground and panted, trying to ignore the padded cushion of his pampers under him and the soft grass tickling his bare legs as his cheeks burnt with shame and humiliation. Petie’s blushing and panting turned into a childish pout as his “Coach”, his older, kangaskhan step-sister Rose, approached. “WHY am I in this stupid outfit again?” the teddiursa whined, sounding more like the pouting toddler he resembled, as he glared up at the huge kangaskhan girl. Rose knelt down, still towering over the sitting Petie, as she let out a sigh and an amused chuckle “How many times have you asked me that…?” she mused, smiling slightly “Like I said last time it’s to get you over your big fear of being embarrassed. If you’re too humiliated to focus while wearing this outfit when I’m the only one who can see you how are you gonna be able to focus in the arena in a normal outfit with an audience and the chance people might see your diapers?” she asked, poking the padding hidden under the onesie for emphasis “That’s why Nanny & Teddy-chan wear those costumes, remember? One of the reasons anyway so-“
Petie had stopped paying attention by that point. The combination of being tired and embarrassed had made him grumpy and Rose wasn’t telling him what he wanted to hear. “Why don’t you ever just give me straightforward battling advice!?” the teddy demanded in an attempt to change the topic, folding his arms and pouting like a spoiled 2-year-old… if he started kicking his feet the teen would be throwing a perfect toddler tantrum “You always do weird stuff like this instead!!” Still kneeling in front of Petie Rose smiled “Well, okay then.” the kangaskhan shrugged and held one hand up like she was about to deliver some sage advice “If some part of the opponent’s body glows during a match be careful of it, that's never a good sign." She said as Petie just sat there, staring up at her in amazement… at the fact she’d said something that obvious and stupid with such a straight face. “You’re making fun of meeee!!” he whined, waving his arms in protest as he slipped into full on tantrum-throwing baby mode. Rose shifted to sitting with her legs crossed and yanked her baby brother into her waiting lap as she snuggled him close.
“Sorry Petie, but that’s kinda what all my advice is like.” Rose said, hugging him to her as he struggled before settling in to just pout in protest “It’s just stuff I picked up over time fighting other people in spars and the arena, stuff I learned from experience.” Using one hand to cuddle Petie the kangaskhan gestured with the other as she continued talking “Best way I can put it is the more you battle the better you get at it, the better you get at it the more stuff you notice, the more stuff you notice the more stuff you learn...” she’d trailed off by that point letting Petie, who was used to Rose’s explanations, cut in with an annoyed “Stuff like what?” as he’d given up struggling and was now sitting on his sister’s lap sulking instead. “Weeeeeeeell…” Rose looked up for a moment as she started to list things off “Stuff like tells for example. Like how if a fire type takes a big breath in they’re likely gonna use a fire move, if a water type gets a funny look on their face their cheeks might be full of a water type move, if the electric generators on an electric type starts sparking they’re gonna shock you… you know, like Andrew’s cheek circles?” she poked her own cheeks for emphasis “Oh! Also you learn to tell if somebody is leading their ranged moves with their eyes or body, that lets you guess where the attacks gonna go and-“
“Yeah right, like I’d ever be able to do that…”
Petie’s pouting and sulking were interrupted as Rose let out an unladylike snort of laughter. Before he could demand to know what was so funny Petie was reduced to letting out a squeal of surprise as his big sister released her grip on him, spun him around in her lap, and laid him down on his back so his feet and legs were sticking up right against her tummy. Before his head could stop spinning from the sudden rotation and movement Petie found himself squealing and giggling helplessly as Rose started playing with his feet, tummy, and paws like he was the twins age. Like he was the age he was dressed. Rose’s broad amused smile filled the teddiursa’s vision as she started talking, still tickling and patting his paws and feet as she did so. “You know when the twins are hungry, when they need a change, when they’re tired, when they want to play and what toy or game they wanna play, and so much more… all before they start whimpering, babbling, OR crying~” she explained, gently tickling her squealing baby brother’s tummy and keep Petie from arguing “And I’ve seen you do the same with other babies, toddlers, and little kids over at Aunt Leanna orphanage too… so why do you think you can’t do stuff like I was mentioning in the arena silly bear~?”
“So w-w-what, d-do you w-want me t-to picture my opponents a-as g-giant babies or something!?” Petie squealed out in between his giggles as the tickling and cooing continued, trying to be sarcastic since he couldn’t believe Rose was bringing up all this. He found himself stymied as she smiled and nodded with a crisp “Sure, if it helps then yeah.” as she finally stopped tickling Petie, the teddiursa just staring up at her in confusion while Rose continued “It’s something you can do, maybe you just need to have some confidence and give it a try. Give it some thought, okay? You keep obsessing over what you can't do, maybe you need to think about what you can do instead." Rose finished as she scooped Petie up under his arms and rolled to her feet, standing up and hoisting her baby brother into the air with her. Petie was so stunned trying to think of some way to argue or call what Rose had said dumb or silly… and not finding any that he didn’t even realize his diaper was sagging along with his dangling legs as Rose carried him back into the house. Petie continued to mull and nurse on what Rose had said, oblivious to the world around him, as he was carried to the twin’s nursery, stripped of his costume, and changed into a fresh diaper.
He only snapped out of it when a familiar pair of baby fresh scents and honey sweet giggles reached his senses. Blinking Petie found himself being gently plopped on his bottom in the large and softly padded playpen Momma kept set up for the twins… who were already in it and smiling brightly at their big brother. Looking up Petie gave Rose an incredibly lost and confused look, still caught up on what she’d said earlier, as his big sister patted his head gently “That was enough training for today. Think about what I said, okay?” she said softly before sitting on the nearby couch to watch them. Apparently taking over the job of baby-minding from Momma. Hearing soft crinkling and movement on the padding of the playpen Petie turned his attention back to Holly and Carol. The white furred teddiursa infants were eagerly crawling to him… and just watching them move he could tell a lot about them. Their tummies were a little bigger than usual and their movements were more sluggish than normal meaning they were between “Just been fed and burped” and “Needing a nap”, their crawling was unhindered and bottom wiggling was normal so they didn’t need changes yet, their cooing was soft, squeaky, but not energetic so they didn’t want to play… they just wanted snuggles and affection. Which Petie willingly gave, gathering them up in his lap and hugging them close as they giggled softly and nuzzled their fuzzy heads into his cheeks happily.
“What I can do…” Petie mused softly as snuggled his baby sister’s close.
