Design sense is like making Frankenstein's monster. You just build up a library of parts you like and then you stitch them together into a wonderful freak and power it with lightning. :D

I'm trying to learn graphic design as I go. I've been finding a hell of a lot more work as a graphic designer than an illustrator, and it wouldn't hurt to have more money on hand. Man, I wish I took design classes in school.

Good luck on that, but it's worth warning you that design can get really cumbersome if you're like me and you pull perfectionist stints on everything. X3; Also the work can get really draining since it's basically a visual method of manipulating people at one of the basest levels, usually for corporations. It's really fun to do if you've got a point to make, but otherwise it's like 'oh my god I'm raping the subconscious of the masses!!!'

Though yeah Illustration jobs are tooouuugh to get. The market is absolutely saturated with amazing professionals right now who can draw anything and aren't caught up in their own side-projects. I found the mindset tends to be those who are really, really good with manipulating other peoples' ideas but don't have too many of their own.
