If it's 100% digital ... would a print done at the same DPI as the drawing was made be "an original" ? o.O or would that only be true if the file itself was destroyed after the first print, so any further duplication must be from a scanned copy? :P
Art made digitally is obviously still art, but for the collector, where's the value? I suppose you could sell the PSD? But there's no real guarantee it's not just a copy, and a thousand other people also have the 'original' file...
umm... what was I thinking about? oh, right ... cute feesh. :)

The value is in the fact that it is a commission - so the commissioner could ask for what they wanted, and they would get custom made art. Also, they get access to a larger file than anyone else does.
I agree that the lack of a physical original is a downside to digital art - and I would not call a print an original in any circumstance... but I think its still an art worth doing and exploring, even though my loyalties will always lie in the traditional arts.
Glad you like the fishies =D Puffers are my favorite fish.

"Hello! I'm a puffer fish! I may look cute, but I am also so poisonous that if you eat just a little, you will die. For some reason the Japanese like to play the culinary equivilent of Russian roulette by eating the few non-poisonous parts of my body. Many times they lose and die from resperatory paralyisis. There is no cure for my toxin. I have heard of something called the Darwin Award. I think this fits."
(neat pic, though!)

*he carries her to the shore just as the helicopter has lowered a Stretcher to airlift her to the nearest hospital*
(3 Hours later....... lani is in a hospital bed.....undergoing treatment as stated here......)

(by the way.......Tetrodotoxin works by paralyzing a person by blocking their nerves.....they die because they cannot breathe......until the poison wears off.....lani will have to be attached to a life support system)
