I'm able to accept Ash losing to Alain. Heck, I was even fine with it if he lost to Sawyer.
The main reason why is because I feel both of them were better developed than the last two people Ash lost to (Tobias and Cameron) since they weren't thrown in near the start of the league.
Alain got his development during the Mega Evolution specials and more in XYZ. Plus, he's a key character in the storyline. Sawyer has been built up throughout XY and XYZ like other rivals Ash has had.
I do feel the league was kind of rushed and he were lead to believe Ash would win. But, I've not given up on the series since the Team Flare arc is pretty amazing so far.

This definitely looks awesome. I've noticed that even though Ash lost, he's gotten closer to winning than he did in all the other leagues he competed in; he at least made the finals. :3
Now if only Greninja was able to do this in Smash, or if he were to ever show up in Pokken with the Syncro form (Ash-Greninja) being his Burst and the Fuma-Shuriken being his finishing move.. Again, this really looks awesome, love your Greninja and Pokemon art a lot.
