I love this piece! Let me just start off by saying that. Everything came together exactly how I wanted it, and I just couldn't be happier with this.
SO, what you're looking at here, is a heat-manipulating, super-soldier-esque, lioness. She was a good soldier until she defected to save her son from being chemically lobotomized. I've always liked the imagery/metaphor of a mother being a lioness protecting her cub. So, I don't care if it's a little on the nose. Again, I love this idea, and I love this piece. heh. With her heat manipulation powers, she can ignite the air and objects she touches. I played upon that idea by having her super heat the air around her to the point that bullets would pop and disintegrate before doing that thing bullets usually do.
It's worth mentioning -- this is the first character I've drawn with multiple pairs of breasts. As always, I like the challenge of doing something new. The upper "shelf" appeared to be larger than the lower, in the reference material. I wanted to keep it that way, as I felt it complimented her physique better; all muscley and soldier-like. Also, as she amps up her powers, there are some pillars that protrude from her back to help her regulate as she would begin to "hulk-out," if you will.
With that said, I'll let the rest of the piece speak for itself. Enjoy!

Once again, I find myself in pleasant shock for two consecutive days before I can put my head together to write a response.
This picture is power and motherhood in one. Doubly so that you had used that tidbit I had described of her being able to superheat her surroundings and incorporate it into the imagery in such an iconic comic-book action panel way. The effects you draw around her control pillars and her hands - each and every time, every liberty you add makes it better. Now I wish to make it canon that Tyra has vents implanted in her palm to fume excess heat that could pop bullets, which I imagine has much more explicit actions when applied to the faces of whoever dared to shoot in her son's direction.
As for the son, you know, for lions, that's the one hairstyle I feel only works for the species. So ruffly that it covers the eyes and that's enforced my endearing for him. And that confident smirk that you've given Jacob. Where many wild cubs would have curled in fear, his posture is one where he knows he has no need to worry - which reinforces the strength of the person shielding him.
And last little tidbit, yes, bravo, you made the multi-breast aspect work. I'm not faulting the fandom, but I sometimes wish that someone would not sexualize that aspect. Proportions are fair, clothed over, and not the main subject of attention.
Now I better stop before I start sounding like Oedipus.

You mention the hair, and I really enjoyed that about both characters. I liked how both had their own sort of "manes"-- what with her hair pulled back, but then puffing out in the back, and the boys cut exactly like you said.
Yeah, and aesthetically speaking, the more I look at it, the happier I am with how her chest came out. Not to pat myself on the back too much, but I did a pretty good job on it, heh.
