I draw these guys a lot and people seem to like seeing them a lot and I finished a lot of things today so I slapped together a lil reference sheet kinda thingy. Drawing reference sheets is my Least favorite thing to draw Ever so this is very rare lol
Some more info directly copied from my Dree documents that I didn't have room for in the image due to my lack of patience to organize it better:
NIGHT BEASTS (also known as beasts, dark swarm, or Eels) are terrifying abominations that seem to appear out of nowhere at night. They eat anything organic including clothing and other items. They are eyeless, earless, and hairless, have thick rubbery skin that feels cool to the touch, long knife-like black teeth, and loose underside skin folds that they pull their limbs into during flight. While flying they snake back and forth like an eel swimming in water, hence why some people refer to them as Eels. Their appearance varies quite a lot between each animal but the ones with more fleshy ridges on the backs of their heads are least common. These beasts have thicker, almost black skin compared to the average beast, and are significantly larger than the other beasts, making them sort of the "alpha" in the large swarms they travel in. These alpha beasts are only found in the far west.
No one is sure of their origin but the most assume that they came from a deeper part of Vephirith and stick around because of the easy food. Shining a light into the night sky reveals millions swarming overhead. Any sort of light burns away their rubbery flesh and leaves behind a thick tar-like substance and pitch black bones which has caused demons to string all sorts of lights all around the outsides of their houses to keep the beasts away. Some of the other wildlife has even evolved to have bioluminescence that harm beasts that get too close. Older, larger beasts don't seem to mind being burned by the weak natural light and eat these animals anyway.
Their weird, slimy, flesh allows air to flow through them almost unimpeded which allows victims to be saved if the Beast is hunted down quick enough and if the poor demon inside wasn't gored on the teeth too badly while going down. Being eaten leads to a slow death via being dissolved by weak stomach acids. Legend has it that folk hero Tech Thunderblood once carved her way out of a Beast with a spoon but there isn't any real evidence to support this.
These fellas/Vephirith are from a story/comic I'm working on called Dree and are a closed species. I probably forgot some info/didn't explain things well enough but I'll get around to explaining it when I start drawing this dang comic haha

These guys look sooo adorable despite there their advance design, like the teeth, eyes, and those little chubby hands makes me want to hug the crap out of one if it wasnt for their, well, diet
Also this: "Tech Thunderblood once carved her way out of a Beast with a spoon but there isn't any real evidence to support this" even though I dont know the character, this sounds fing bada** as well as the cute detail of some of the variants tasting like watermelon

Aww ahaha thank you xD No one ever tries to hug them so I'm sure they'd appreciate it. Some of the younger beasts are only about, like, SUV size so you could probably maybe hug one of them.
Tech is a trip lmao I'm gonna be doing a sort of episodic short comic series with them in it to practice drawing comics before starting the main comic for Dree so, eventually, you'll get to learn about them a little more :P
But they're an outlaw that constantly ends up in really odd situations and somehow has a very positive reputation despite frequently killing people for their souls. It's like a sort of "myth preceding the person" kind of thing but they always end up in the right place at the right time and end up somehow saving/helping someone really important despite doing their darnest to mess everything up. Tech wants to be evil but fate has other plans.

That sounds like my boyfriend storyline he's been writing but instead of doing bad but being good he THINKS hes going good but in reality is fing up the progress of the good people and everyone telling him he's doing wrong and to stop but hes too stubborn to listen ;3; and goes cra cra around the end

I think Tech's story will eventually move away from the comedic themes its going to start with and eventually weave into the main plot for my comic, though, since they've got a condition/gift one of the other main characters has and it wouldn't be too far fetched if that pulled them together but idk just yet. It wouldn't happen until towards the end of the story and that's the most work in progress-y part of the whole thing right now heh
