There are crows in the story. The story has three settings:
home, the forest, and grandma's home. The home settings
are pretty much "real world" and only feature briefly; most of
the story takes place in the woods. And it's supposed to be
a weird dreamlike place. The creatures that live in the woods
are strange too. So I came up with a look for the animal characters
that was very stylized. They are decorated and "flat", and are
more like the concepts, etc. So this is more like the idea of a
crow, than a real crow.
