The wolf is huge, and initially too big to even fit onto the page.
He changes in size and demeanor as story progresses.
Note the yellow sky. Because I was using conté, which comes in
these warm colors, it ended up influencing decisions about color
and setting. This changed somewhat when I finally got to making
the finishes, but by then the setting was established as one that
was going to be expressive and free to be rough and colorful
according to mood, not reality.
I probably would not have discovered this "look" if I had a full set
of colors and tools to work with at this early stage. I probably would
have defaulted to blue sky and green grass, etc.
Rough tools can be useful.
