Patch and Paper
In 1939 Thomas Flynn was deployed to fight in the second World War, leaving behind his beautiful wife Abigail Flynn. Thomas and Abigail were married for 14 loving years every year trying to build a large happy family for their selves. Unfortunately, Thomas and Abigail were never blessed with baby bunnies of their own. In 1942 Abigail was delivered a letter, the only letter that no wife ever wants to get. Thomas had passed away. Abigail was devastated, she cried for over 3 weeks. Her family tried to get her to move back home and get out of the town her and Thomas made so many loving memories in. Abigail refused to leave knowing that with every day that passed the face she loves so much would fade in time leaving only his letters, clothes and places they went to remind her of her deceased husband.
One quiet night in summer Abigail sat at the head stone of Thomas’s resting spot out back of their home, talking about their past and laughing about happier times. Wiping away a tear she pulled out all the love letters from a box. Letters from early marriage to letters from war each one overflowing with words of love and happiness. As she filled her mind with his words she smiled and knew what she had to do.
After kissing the head stone, she rushed inside glowing with excitement. Feeling the butterflies in her tummy she giggled not having had such feelings in years she let her self be happy and smiled. Abigail rushed into the bedroom and pulled out all of his shirts taking in each one by one smelling in the familiar sent of Thomas. She laid each out on the bed and retrieved the letters from the box spreading them all out in no particular order. Once she was cleaned up and in Thomas’s favorite dress he bought her on their first anniversary, she pulled out her sewing machine, set it up in the kitchen with all his shirts on the table. One by one she cut up each shirt and kissing each piece with a smile. With the love letters Abigail opened each one and carefully folded all of them together in an origami fashion. After 9 months of continuous work Abigail put up the sewing machine and glue sat back and marveled at what she had created.
Laying in two baby cribs Abigail created two twin baby bunnies both just as unique as the other. Patch and Paper her two daughters were created. Patch was made from Thomas’s shirts left behind each patch representing a shirt worn in an important time of their marriage. Patch was made from loving memories. Next was Paper, Paper was created from all the love letters Thomas ever sent Abigail, from the first love note to the last love letter from war, Paper was written from love. Looking over her daughters Abigail picked up both in her arms and kissed each one on the forehead bringing life to the two girls. With the cries of her new twin bunnies’ happiness was brought back into her life and the three of them lived happily ever after.
