That's what happens when demon-snakes eat a bunch of (oddly identical) lion-dragons. :)
But yeah, he did grow just a bit, though oddly only in those parts visible in the distance. You can tell by the birds that the bit of him in the foreground is more or less "normal" size; he seems to be cheating a bit. (Well, either that or those are HUGE birds.)
