I was going to wait to post this one but after working so much just on this draft alone, I felt compelled to post this work in progress with a few of the construction lines in it. If you think the detail in this one is practically insane, you should have seen the sparsity of the original inspiration sketch I derived this version from. It's barely even recognizable as a sketch and vastly different in layout to this one but the basic idea is there. Featuring Mel, Carrie, Melissa, Stephan & Wally Taylor, Heather Beech, Meg Irwin and Russ Walters out for dinner while Placid York checks out a certain hammerhead.

That's the art I want to see! Daily situations, everyday life, sharing moments with family and friends...
This is life! (totally not ripped from Sony's advertising campaign for their latest black monolith :p)
I think I am in the picture, but I am not sure :p
BABY SPERMSHARK! <3 When did the Taylor family grew up one member? :3

I didn't have anyone specifically in mind for cameo appearances in the background but was thinking about it around the time I drew the orca guy ordering at the counter in the upper left side so that could be you ordering up something.
I've done a few sketches with the Taylors' little guy but have only posted the one in the character portrait pages I did for the sharkverse characters so far.

Very sweet, Todd. Lovely life scene. I also love the theme, with all the sea and sea-related creatures, like the sea birds. Looks like Russ is the only one that's even remotely not-water friendly.
Also, is that a silhouetted Loch Ness monster.. and then also a big tall sea serpent type, taking someone's order, at the top right? Looks like he's got no legs, which I approve of. :}===<
All in all, really cool!

That is a silhoutted Nessie up there based on the famous if faked surgeon's photograph everyone's seen. I put sunglasses on Nessie as if he/she were a celebrity trying to hide in plain sight. The tall sea serpent guy is actually a quick take on Godzilla who's signing autographs for a couple of kid fans while waiting in line for the buffet. Hm, that sea serpent idea sounds interesting.
And thank you!
And thank you!
I'm not saying anything new here, but I really love the detail you put into this, and the "mundane life" subject matter. It's very cool to see characters in all manners of situations like this; it really provides new insights into them and the energy behind their creation.
Also, the Taylors' little tyke is adorable!
