Long Live The King YCH [CLOSED]
It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever wanna be king?

Well, I suppose as long as it doesn't cause a legion of the emperor's henchmen to start shooting arrows at me or for Scarlet to drag my sorry ass through the streets of Istanbul, I suppose I could suffer such a title XP Bah, you know what, I think I'm ok with that as well XD
*LOVE* the title in this now by the way XD Dunno if you changed it while I caught some shut eye, or if tired Mag completely missed it, but that is awesome XD
Oh, oh, so I think that a part of the story that I'm writing for "The Soldier's Lament" could actually fit the scene perfectly (so sorry for the delay in that VTW). Here is an excerpt of what I've completed so far. Let me know what you think:
Start Draft
Magximus fidgeted impatiently for Mano Falir, the Regent of Venice, to arrive for his daily tasking. The dreary weather did little to improve Magximus’s mood as he awaited his supervisor, with a fine mist settling onto the armor that he and his detachment wore. As he continued to wait for Falir, he could not help but drift into thought at how he despised the work he did for the man as Captain of the Guard, and how little respect he had for the Regent. Falir tended to be rude and pompous, consistently patronizing to Magximus and those under his command. The Regent also did not see any importance in respecting the time of his subordinates, as he was consistently late for troops musters and meetings with his officers.
Magximus erased these thoughts from his mind and expression as the regent arrived in his carriage. Emerging from the armored box, the Regent seemed distracted and aloof, as though his mind were engaged in some grander scheme. Magximus rendered the required salute and greeting of the day before getting to the morning’s business, “What are the duties of the day sir.”
Falir snapped out of his schemes and grinned wickedly towards Magximus. “You’re going on patrol Captain, and today you will be doing a great service to your city. Here is a list of individuals I want you to arrest and brought to the Palace of Justice.”
Magximus examined the list of names, and stared quizzically at Falir. “But sir,” Magximus protested, “on what charges are you apprehending these beings? The individuals you have listed here are nothing but common folks and gentle souls. I mean, for goodness sake sir, you have the baker of all –“
“Silence you canine idiot,” Falir snapped at Magximus, “they are traitors, and as such, must be rounded up and brought to justice, now go, follow my orders, to the letter, or it is you that will find yourself punished.”
Magximus clenched his teeth, suppressing his anger, yet complied with Falir’s demand. “Very well sir, you will have all of these beings at the Palace of Justice by noon today.”
Falir nodded curtly, and entered back into his coach. Magximus observed the dark box disappear into the distance before reluctantly beginning his patrol. One by one he and his detachment visited the homes of those on Falir’s list. One by one, Magximus shackled them and lined them up in preparation to go to the Palace of Justice. “I’m terribly sorry,” Magximus would start each time, “I am certain that this is a misunderstanding that will be cleared up just as soon as we reach the Palace of Justice.” Yet Magximus’s words were of no comfort to the families whom he separated, families who seemed oddly convinced that they would never see their loved ones again. The overflow of grief from each the households he visited puzzled Magximus, yet he continued his duties nevertheless, and as promised, he delivered every individual on the list to the Palace of Justice by the appointed time.
“Very good!” Falir cried out as Magximus approached the steps Palace’s to the courtyard, “It seems you and your men are not entirely useless to me after all.” Magximus clenched his first at the remark, but maintained his composure, “What is to be done with these people now, sir?” Magximus said between his teeth, betraying his aggravation with the Regent.
“Why, they are to receive the treatment that all traitors receive,” Falir said, flinging the doors to the courtyard open, revealing a complex set of gallows constructed within, “they are to be summarily executed, and you,” Falir said, tossing an hangman’s cap to Magximus, “you are to be their executioner.”
Magximus could not hold back his horror at this revelation, “You wish to just execute these people with no trial or evidence, and to put their blood on my hands?” Magximus demanded, “and force me to violate the very moral imperative which is the foundation for which I serve?”
“And just what imperative is that?” Falir asked rhetorically, “to defend the cause of those who commit treason against your Regent?”
“To protect the innocent,” Magximus growled, throwing the hangman’s mask back at Falir’s face, and drawing his sword, “and as I draw breath, I will not let you harm these people, even if it is my fault that they now stand before you.”
“Insolent wretch,” Falir spat at Magximus’s defiance.

Oh, and as always, I'm happy for Scalet to have Mag's back, even if she will at some point later (or maybe it is something that happened earlier?) throw his ass off Olympus or something to that effect XP I think it'd be an easy thing to properly write her into the narration, following, secretly watching from he shadows, emerging to help, even though they did not know each other, but simply because of Mag's defiance to the tyrant.
Sorry to be a bit long in the communt, but please, let me know what you think. I certainly love the scene how it is now, it was one that immediately inspired the creative side, hopefully it'll last till I get off of work here in 12 - 15 hours XD
Look forward to seeing who all will join Mag and Scarlet in the scene XD

Oh I didn't change the title xD. I imagined the scene of a new King rising while listening to the song, so I gave it a solemn title. But if you read it with Scar's voice it can be the title of an ammutination! XD i will put a darker tone in the scene and move rose petals away... Or turn them into burning pieces of paper so you can have fun while building the scene.
Oh, put Scarlet in that traitors list, so they have a reason to fight together ;P
Oh, put Scarlet in that traitors list, so they have a reason to fight together ;P
Well, then missing that detail must have been the result of severely tired Mag unable to process anymore details from the end of the day XP Well Scar does have quite the villainous voice in both English and Italian (yes, I looked up the sound of the character's voice in Italian after our digression about how Mufasa sounds in each language XP )
Sounds good, am quite excited to see how it comes out on cavas XD
Ah, that idea is actually brilliant! I can have her on the list to be arrest for sarcasm XP Digression jokes aside, I think it would fit the narrative, and the character, that in that moment Scarlet berates him as a fraud and a stooge, and that Mag seemed to be doing the very things against his principals. She, however, acquiesces to go. After she sees Mag's confrontation with Falir, not only does her perspective change, but because Mag did not see the need to search/disarm anyone who came along peacefully (in his naive hope that it would be resolved justly through the courts), and because I imagine that Scarlet in one that is prepared for such situations, she frees herself, and joins Mag with him in the fray. Ah, this has such potential for plot depth, both in the scene, and in the aftermath in "A Soldier's Lament". XD You'll probably be complete before I am, but I am quite excited to put pen to paper (metaphorically!) on this idea now XD

ahahah really? XD I guess the english one is still your favourite, I bet that we prefer the voices we are used to. But still I like scar's english voice very much.
Oh! Pfff.... Scarlet is so good in vanishing, she does not fear to be arrested to discover more of her opponents :P I guess she could have joined also if some her friends were on the list too... like Leo. XD Omg he must have found so many things to steal in the Venice of reinassence.

I do agree, but the way I prefer voices is weird. There are some things that I prefer in Portuguese, and some that I prefer in English, and I suppose it all depends what I was viewing growing up. I like hearing news, game shows, and really any television and radio better in Portuguese, though I tend to prefer movies in English, it's kid of a weird juxtaposition XD
Oh, I rather figured, and the idea I was kind of going with was Scarlet was that she was arrested only because she allowed it to happen (to force the issue would have only led to an escape XP ), and she had a plan of her own for when they arrived at the Palace of Justice. However, it actually would also be extremely fitting for Leo to be on the list of those Falir wanted to arrest, for a tyrant will often seek to purge the intellectuals from their realm to try and smother any attempt at skepticism! (well, that, and for stealing ancient treasures and knowledge too, but, nuance XP ). Hmmm... more thoughts of things and stuff to do XD
