Jesus, I remember the "video nasties". The moral guardians were so up in arms about the gore that they didnt realize nearly every movie on the list was a total shitshow, to a MAN. Seriously, I dont recall any video nasty that wasnt a b-movie that looked like some film student cobbled it together with a bottle of ketchup.

Man.... half those films were only on there because of their covers....

And Evil Dead? THEY ACTUALLY BANNED EVIL DEAD!?!?!

Yup. Probably because it had the words Evil and Dead in the title.

Yup. So stupid, too, as a lot of those movies are cheesy as hell now. It's like 'this bothered people?'

Hey I agree with her, VHS still is great for those 'longing for nostalgia' moments.

VHS cover art is often hand-painted and superior, imo. I loooove oldschool poster art. I miss when they used to hire artists to paint posters. Now it's all photoshopped actors :(

Had an original King Kong movie poster but it got damaged badly and eventually had to throw it away.

I don't know I mean... I saw The Toolbox Murders (1978) among others. Frankly most of them were so boring they deserved the ban. I also, to an extent, agree with Puzzle on this one. There is such a thing as too hi-def. One time I was watching Blade Runner and when a replicant got shot in the head it looked like someone ran up and slapped an old piece of balogna on his face.

Yeah most of them are really just cheesy in hindsight. Makes one wonder what the fuss was about!

This is true though if I had to figure ... usually it's one or two scenes that push it over the line. I mean Toolbox Murders probably got the ban not for the "spree" at the beginning but more so the scene where it's obvious the main bad guy is going to rape the kid while spouting how he loves her and does so though not on camera (thank God for that). Then she kills him like two minutes later and wanders off.

But yeah, most of them are just terrible grindhouse movies that you just kind of raise an eyebrow at and shrug. Some are fun others are best left forgotten.

Holy shit, I knew it! I knew that diamond had to have an interest in the video nasties! I wonder how many she has, as only a select few are still unavailable in the UK in their uncut form. The New York Ripper being one of them.

Diamond just became a million times more awesome than she already was!

I can totally picture her on her computer at night, scanning over websites to find original uncut vhs copies of the more infamous nasties like The Driller Killer and Cannibal Holocaust, the two movies whose vhs box art arguably started the whole mess! XD

But I'll stop rambling now, the comic itself is great! :)

There's a guy on YouTube called Lampyman who does reviews of the Video Nasties. He's a bit droll at times, but it's a fun watch!
