
This is the tanglewood tree...or the dead tree in Joshua Tree made of splinters. My arms and hands still have dozens of embedded splinters. I had climbed t the top to search the horizon for Desert Lilies. No lilies! Lots of desert.

And I agree with an above commenter, it's splendid that you're smiling in this photo! You have a lovely grin which could be distributed for the benefit of mopey people everywhere.
Personally I get splinters out by digging up the skin with a sewing-needle. Takes a certain amount of teeth-gritting, but the end result is enormously satisfying.

Sounds like a case for the sort of puncture resistant gloves that we use at the veterinary hospital I work at.

They are on the expensive side, so maybe some heavy-duty gardening or rock-climbing gloves next time?
Great shot though! Despite living in LA for over twenty years, I haven't explored much of it's more farflung areas so stuff like this is fascinating.
