What is the ID they refer to? I didn't get it from the context, and I doubt you're referring to the part of the psyche.

ID refers to shorthand for "Intelligent Design," a scientific belief that there was intentional thought put in the creation of existence, generally used to refer specifically to living things.

The world here is one where anthropomorphics actually exist, but due to the majority of population, they hide themselves from the world. In Richard's case, he and her sister are very rare: the first anthros to be born of two human parents.

Also note that in this alternate universe, the media has been given especially high pressure regarding political correctness and this causes the creation of a media etiquette, shown here to be something of a slightly relaxed setting while still being professional... As for when it's happening, it's a few years past 2009. More detail on current events in that universe will be posted in a future stenograph, a CNN special report of anthros, and a history to help better understand how anthropomorphics would effect the world this is set in.
