Did the recent re-imaginings of the show bring back some of the more odd, less-humanoid races from the old animated cartoon? That was the one thing that made it fun in spite of the low budget animation I thought.

The animated series was ruled non-cannon by the late Gene Roddenberry so none of those episodes ever happened. The only possible one could have been "Yesteryear" as Spock mentioned he once had a pet. This does not rule out appearances in comic books as M'ress did make a return to the Marvel version or the new movies: the two alien women Kirk was in bed with were allegedly Catians.

Don't forget in one of the original movies during a bar room brawl, there was a Catian dancer. i believe it was "the lost country". I always forget the name of that one...

Patrick Steward/Capt Picard? I haven't seen those yet. What beer is he pitching? I remember Johnathan Frakes,Brent Spiner and William Shatner making celebrity guest on the annual Detroit,Mich Motorcity Comicbook conventions. I ought to start buying and reading Star Trek magazines-just to look up the upcoming conventions and see who's on the guest lists,the cast members usually make money doing conventions-gotta pay em if you want their photo and autograph. Last I remember,Sir Patrick was doing a voice acting role in American Dad,as Stan's CIA boss.

Maybe poor Sir Patrick might dare appear as himself on The Big Bang Theory like Will Wheaten and Brent Spiner did.

I remember that too. I read a old ST:TNG magazine about Starfleet uniforms and their was one for men who choose to wear skirts. Only ones who deserve to wear something should be true blooded Scotsmen!

Imagine Braveheart in space! An army of Scotsmen daring to moon the Klingons,Romulians,Borgs and Jem Hadar/Dominion before a battle.
