I know I said I wasn't doing any reposts, but I felt like I needed to post this one here because it means so much to me....
Story time!
About 5 months ago, my family found out that our super beloved golden retriever, Fiona, has Lymphoma. It's an aggressive cancer of the lymph nodes, with no cure, only treatments that buy more time. She's gone through a 5-month course of chemo therapy, and I'm happy to say that for now, she's in complete remission and back to her old self.....but on average, dogs with her condition and treatment have a 6-8 month survival time. Could be more, could be less, all we know is that at some point the cancer will come back with a vengeance, at which point putting her down will be the better option than letting her suffer in pain and illness. My family is completely heart broken over this because she's so young, my baby is only 5 years old, turning 6 at the end of November.
Anyway, this custom's painted with acrylics, sealed with matte mod-podge, and rehaired with Dolly Hair, I believe the colors are "White Chocolate" and "Vanilla Cream", but my memory is fuzzy on that. Her collar is made of fleece, and the little charm is just a tiny necklace pendant from my childhood that I don't remember where or how I got.
Story behind why she has a leaf cutie mark: One of the times my parents took her camping, she ended up with a leaf stuck on her butt for just about the entire weekend, and my parents thought that was hilarious, and it reminded them of the cutie marks the ponies have, so they gave me the idea for a custom "Noni pony" (her nickname is "Noni", which comes from "Nona" which is short for "Finona" which is a cute play on her actual name, "Fiona"...that was a mouthful, haha).
