I don't have a Victor machine, but I do have an ancient Edison cylinder dictating machine designed for business use. I also have a cylinder lathe for cutting off the old dictation from the wax cylinder so that it could be reused many times. Both are all metal - no wood.

Ancient? *chuckles* doubt it.... edison dictaphone's are usually from between the 30's and late 50's ish
and the shaver, that could be considerably older, but it all depends on the serial numbers.
Mine is from 1904 to about 1906, but it's had an upgrade on the reproducer
