Well I had a little more of a cultural reasoning for the use of this style of diaper on this character. At this point in the game your next stop is a Japanese fortress hidden underground. Suitably around this time your armor and equipment gathered around this time are tagged with names like Samurai and Shogun. Thus the Japanese style of cloth diaper with cover would be more than appropriate.
For his sword in the picture I make a more squat and cartoonish version of the Thunder Saber from the game's manual. Mostly since this is the only way Lion Man's powers are rendered to be utilitarian as his only outstanding trait is his wide sword swing arc that allows him to hit blocks above and below him.

255 is the cap for all stats I think. But I think that would largely have to do with a common 8-bit processor limitation (a single 8-bit variable can go as high as 255 including the 0 as a numeral). You can have higher numbers naturally, but that involves using more variables and machine time to handle properly.
