So here it is. My first animation of a drawing.
As You can see I started to learn the art of animation. I must say it's really fun to do! :D
Sorry for crappy loading screen and some errors in animation. It was done mostly as a test of my current skills. I hope the movement isn't to rapid especially on the wings. I must remember that next time I have to prepare better assets before animating them. Especially for blinking and eye movement. Trying to modify an already moving mesh with new levels was just beyond my patience with the animation software.
The animations was done using mostly OpenToonz and holy crap I love and hate that software at the same time. Love because it's free, powerful, there are many tutorials already and plastic tools is just marvellous. Hate because it's still buggy as hell, can crash at any second, tutorials don't cover all the stuff I want and there is no documentation but most importantly... Why the way it manages levels, scenes etc as separate files and not as a part of a project just blows my mind >.<> I have to start this animation 3 times from scratch because the stupid OpenToonz didn't save my work and apparently by default ctrl+s saves only the scene not the levels. It requires a lot of patience but I'm slowly getting handy with it... You know... Unless I find something better than OpenToonz.
Thanks
Red-IzaK for help with preparing assets for animation of her artwork. Go gav the original artwork if you haven't done it already: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14816682/

Yup. It's an all purpose animation tool that mimics how traditional animation is created. It's mostly designed for animation where scenes are drawn frame by frame but it can also work for animation static images.
And yes, it can animate images with transparent background.

Yeah, I now want to get better in this type of animation.
I didn't know any Magic the Gathering trailer but I watched some and... OMG they are just magnificent! It's like a mix of 3D with 2D animation. I mean some models must be in 3D there, right?
I wonder what they used for that. I heard that I could do this type of 2D animation with Blender, so a mix between 3D and 2D could be probably achieved that way.
I'm really glad You like it.
Yeah it moves a bit fast. Although now when I look at it I think that the rapid movement of wings is more distracting and could be slower or less dynamic. That way the moving head would be the main focus.

Thank You :D
I wanted to add a blinking eye but forgot prepare it before starting to animate it. OpenToonz is a bit pesky when it comes to editing an already created and animated skeleton and I was enough irritated with that app to risk doing it from scratch again. But next animations will have blinking eyes for sure! :D

A WEEK IS A LOT OF TIME THOUGH!?!?
It is a challenge for me to pick up drawings when I can't complete them in one sitting, so I am working on my drawing speed. Even so, I seem to have more patience for painting than I do animation? It might be because I have a tendency to severely over complicate, and I find that trait to hurt double as much when I animate xD..
I have other problems with animation aswell, but I probably shouldn't rant in your comment section!
Very inspiring piece of work. Thank you so much for making and sharing it! ;A;
