Ahanu is a rare Plains Leothaun that wanders the plains region as part of an ancient tribe. A direct descendant of the first of the Plains Leothauns he is wild and is part of the natives that never started settling into villages and later...cities.
Ahanu himself is not much for the tribe as his family was given a very important job/task...he watches over an ancient beast, considered the last of its kind. He watches it until it too may perish, but, so long as it lives, so Ahanu and the Leothauns that come from him will live on to guard over it.
Being from an ancient peoples and still living via their rituals and ways, Ahanu does not often mingle with the more advanced of his kind. However...for one week out of the the year, they do hold a festival in which the more advanced honor their more tribal and raw ways, and, Ahanu is notorious for going to these festivals and putting on a very beautiful show.
Using a sort of golden dust, Ahanu manipulates it to show the story of their kind, of the ancient creatures that gave them powers over beast mastery as well as other Plains Leothaun legends and tales. While he is not hired to do this, it has become expected of the "mysterious native" to appear and do this for everyone to listen and see.
After the show he always disappears, never taking tips or even stopping to enjoy the rest of the festival. When asked why he does it, he says it so that the Plains Leothaun never forget where it is they came from and so that they never take their powers for granted.
Ahanu may seem quiet and mysterious but that's not him at all. He loves playing pranks on the people that wander into his territory. He loves showing the wonder of the Earth and creatures, and he is a bit smug when it comes to showing off just how strong he is and how great his survival instincts are. He tends to get a bit big-headed at times and sees himself as something "superior" to current plains Leothaun...however, he is lonely being a wanderer, and one can see that he revels in what little contact he gets. Would he ever consider settling down?
No...it's not in his way or nature.
