Rhari paused quietly, her sharp ears perked as a sweet summer wind rustled through her fur and fluttered her hair out behind her head, leaving her long crimson and ebony locks tangled and carelessly draped over her shoulders.
She gazed over the pathways before her, each direction leading someplace completely different, completely alien. It was exciting and horrifying and wonderfully unique, all wrapped up into one glorious, glimmering ball in front of her; life. It was her's and begging to be taken.
Her muzzle twisted into a warm smile, the sugary scent of summer filled her lungs and a loving squeeze prompted her to glance down at the small confused looking creature standing next to her. The taur gave a loving smile- the type only a mother can give, and the little one smiled back, her eyes twinkling with wonderment and curiosity.
"Where are we going, mommy?" She asked, abrupt and blunt- a child's way. Rhari let her gaze play back towards the forest, the city, the plains and meadows, and long each dirt walked path way that stretched invitingly in front of her.
"I don't know monster...I've never been there before. " She quipped quietly. Barra's fingers clenched tighter around her mother's. "But we're going to see where the road takes us. And I'm gonna be with you, and you're gonna be with me, and together we're gonna figure it out, okie sweetie?" She asked. The little one looked up with a bright glittering gaze, reassured by her mother's resolution. It was a strength not even Hercules himself could manage. A mixture of determination, resolve, courage and hope, all rolled into one perfect package. On four paws or two, she had decided to walk forward and face whatever lied ahead.
Rhari gave her daughter's paw one last lingering squeeze, before she took a slow step forward. The first of many into the next chapter of her life. No matter what happened, no matter who they met, and no matter where they ended up, they had the courage to take that first step. And it was glorious.
