A lot has been asked about the free areas, so here it is!
Special thanks to
baron_dale for comming up with the shape and layout style of the free zone shown on the bottom of the diagram. The top diagram represents how they are arranged around a wing.
baron_dale included a lot of different areas such as therapy rooms and lecture spots as well as the theater and library.
But as I started to refine his design I realized that since there will be about six of these per wing, I don't have to put all of that in one area.
So this is the first area, the "Theater" district. Except I won't be calling it "district" and "area" is starting to get overused. I can't use zone since that refers to everything in that wedge of the ARC!
The main theaters are quiet areas. Their doors will close once the movies start, and won't let anyone in after. You are allowed to leave at any time. Once the movie is over you are encouraged to discuss it. Theaters A and B exit directly to discussion areas. In hindsight, I should have made A/B the big ones and C/D the small ones, since the big ones don't lead directly to discussion areas, nor are those ones that big.
The movie discussion areas are restricted to those who have actually seen the movie, and the movie discussed is the one that had just shown. Discussion moderators (either a volunteer inmate or a therapist faculty member) will ensure that the discussion stays related to the movie in question and keep the topics from getting derailed.
The Mystery Science Theater exclusively plays cheesy movies (the worst we can find.) Audience members are strapped into their chairs and may not leave until the closing credits begin to roll. Their minds will be monitored. Audience members are allowed to yell anything they want at the screen, provided it is funny.
The entire library and reading area are quiet zones. If a patient breaks the silence, speaking anything over a whisper, they are warned once then removed from the area. They will not be allowed back in to the library unless muzzled.
The library books are actual books. Both the cover and pages are made of a paper like plastic that is incredibly difficult to tear, is almost completely recyclable. That is to say, when recycled only a very small percent of the polymer gets destroyed or unusable after each cycle unlike metal which is 100%. This polymer actually exists, and has existed for some time though I have yet to see it in an actual book. Maybe its still too expensive to make.
The reason for having actual books instead of E-readers is because I want the reader to have the experience of reading an actual book, the calm serenity of reading story on something that isn't also a computer. This is something that I think is rapidly being lost, and although I have no actual evidence for it I believe it is better for ones recovery. I'll bet a lot of these people's problems are aggravated by the saturation of technology and connectivity, and in order to return to being an actual human you have to disconnect completely from time to time.
The book discussion areas are free form and unmoderated however you are encouraged to start a book club.
Other areas I will design will be therapy/relaxation area, exercise/gym area, a game/play area, a TV-show viewing/educational area, even a pool! Well, an Olympic-sized ball pit, at any rate. I haven't quite thought what to assign to the remaining points on the hexagon, I think that's five and I have one more to go.... maybe an area just for inmate socializing, and maybe eating food cubes together (if allowed to eat with their hands.)
Inmates are not allowed to watch any TV show or series or movies on their own, unless they are purely educational. They are required to watch with a friend. If they don't have a friend they have to make one, as part of their recovery.)

Hey I think I can help, with area naming. Instead of that say Zone T (T= Theatre) the letter can be changed out to match the name of the area. Though I just realized that might not work because you would have at least two T zone then. One for theatre and Therapy so it would have to be played around with.
no no no its not weather or not to call it theater or just T, the issue is weather to call it a "zone" or an "Area" or a "room." I just thought of "concourse" but that doesn't really fit. I'm not sure what type of location to call it. Its definitely not a foyer or mezannie, and lobby would only refer to the bits outside the theater, not the big Y structure as a whole. Hmm, "hall" could work but I'm all out of loccation/room types. hmm. "theater hall, activity hall, therapy hall..." so much choice!
Its different for each individual. Usually they remain in whatever gear they had in their cells. They are unmuzzled if their muzzling was a result of attempting to chew through stuff or tongue biting. If they are the sort to scream a lot or manipulate others, they remain muzzled and gagged.
