Inspired by a song from 'Fiddler on the Roof'.
In my mind, Mirage and Asael are an unconventional couple who uncannily make things work. I've always pictured Mirage refusing to acknowledge the "L" word, even when her actions told otherwise.
Now Asael breaks the silence with four words and asks point blank.
The results could set back progress or smooth the road ahead a bit.
I'll be honest, while working on this piece, I wasn't really feeling it. But I pressed on. It wasn't until I was cleaning it up in Photoshop that I was able to appreciate it.
In case you're wondering, Mirage's hair isn't missing a piece, I just ran out of sketchpad space and I didn't want to crop the piece too much.
BTW, if anybody out there knows of a legit website with good pictures of quality Ancient Egyptian clothing, that'd really save me the hassle of swimming through small, grainy pics, inaccessible Pinterest pics, and Halloween costumes.

I'll admit that the awkward-morning-after-heavy-drinking gag has crossed my mind. Ancient Egyptians loved their red beer... :P
