So restless and reckless and lost. (Kobold-Goblin Dude)

More drawings half-inspired by Jim Steinman music. This is the weird chubby kobold goblin orc monster man that I seem to draw sometimes, looking despondent, while I listened to a Jim Steinman song.
He's standing in front of some ruffly curtains.
red fineliner, black marker, 9b pencil.

You gays and your orcs.
This line work is more solid than a lot of other drawings in your gallery, giving a better idea of your overall ability to illustrate though I still feel it's not the full story. It looks like you're using a chisel-end marker. I'd suggest something finer with a simpler shape as to keep the lines more consistent. I'm also not sure about the need for the pen scribbles but if anything, they would have helped on the curtains, assuming you committed to decent coverage. Still waiting for you to cast away the doubt and really "go for it" on one of these. It looks alright, the foundation is there (Nice neck rolls), but some more serious shading would be good to see. I don't think you can't, I just think you don't.
We need to get you some real paper.

Orcs are amazing. Beautiful brutish bulksters.
The chisel marker I use also has a fine-tip (that I only rarely employ). I was just kind of attracted to trying to use the thick end as much as possible. Maybe it'd be better with a thick brush-tip instead of a chisel, though.
The red pen is what I drew first, actually-- came back with everything else the next day, I think. It just kinda makes me feel more sure about some stuff than if I had sketched/doodled it in a H pencil or something. That started when I made a bunch of red-pen gesture drawings and then a while later went over them in marker, thought "this is sorta OK" so felt like doing that more concentratedly. You're right that using it more outside the bust would have "tied it together" better, though-- I don't know why I chose a different pen to write the words at the time.
I do have plenty of nice paper (real fuckin rag-paper even), nice panels, nice canvas--- but I also just sorta like graph paper. Heh. It's also a little less daunting.
Thank you for being this detailed and supportive with your feedback! You certainly know yourself that it's difficult to shuck off doubt like that-- so thank you for the encouragement.
