I get a feeling things are going to get weird from here. I recognized the dialog from earlier . . . wow, four years ago . . . but I'm still not sure what is going on. Rips me up, though. I know this is all a story, and that these people don't exist in anywhere but a story form, but those are telltales of a really great story, one where you can become so involved in it that the characters become as real to you as your next door neighbors.
I think what he's trying to say is it's kind of an archaic term. Shakespearean sort of dialect. Though given the fact that he was kind of a bookworm nerd type deal before, it'd be understandable that he'd say something like that. I believe he's thinking a "If something happens, It's on -your- hands" sort of thing would have been more understandable. "On your head be it" makes some think of old timer Villains, twisting curled mustaches, and about to go into a manacle laughter.
Kind of like the Phantasmagoria game. They had the husband being a real, understandable asshat, then when it came out that he was possessed, he started acting... Almost comedic villain, laughing maniacally, and saying really off the wall goofy things. So far what we've got from him is he's smart, albeit a jealous sort. Then when it's obvious he's the bad guy in real life as well as in her dreams, we start seeing kind of archaic, (Some might say goofy) terms.
Don't get me wrong. I love it. I love the quote because I enjoy Archaic dialogue and "On your head be it," Makes, in my book, a more... Understandable threat. Just figuring that might be what he's talking about. It's not so much "Pirate" as it is "Archaic".
PS: Archaic=<3 XD

Family of readers perhaps? Or those that love the bible? Because that's a situation it'd be understandable to have it heard often enough. ^^ I mean, Don't quote me here because last time I read the bible was when I was eight and it gave me really bad nightmares... But I believe there's a quote in there that's pretty much that?
You know, with all of the effort you seem to be putting into making this guy as hateable as possible, I get the feeling that either:
A.) He's exactly what he appears to be, just a mostly one-dimensional hate sink/walking plot device whose only purpose is to be responsible for Gem's tragic past and eventually get written out of her life so that Paul can supplant him as Gem's primary paternal figure. (The cynical version.)
B.) All of this setup is really a red herring designed to make us pour all our anger onto this guy, only to then turn around reveal his later, more tragic/sympathetic/possibly even heroic moments or actions, all so we can feel extra guilty for hating him so much. (The genre savvy version.)

I just spent the last few hours reading this comic, and I have to say that I am completely enthralled by it. The story, the emotion, all of it... And I am sad now that I have caught up to the current point. I wish the story was still going... It has been three weeks since the last page, that means the next page is coming soon, right?
... Right...?
... Right...?
