Some gestural sketches from my last trip to Lincoln Park Zoo, a quick portrait of their male lion done on site, and a comparison of some fictional lions done on the bus on the way home.

Fictional lions: Rebecca Sugar's Lion from Steven Universe, Mufasa from Dianey's Lion King, and Milt Kahl's lion from one of the Disney shorts (I don't envy his assistants! Trying to replicate his drawings is so difficult! And once they moved on to xerography, they had to get even closer to his expressive style!)
