Your map is too small. :P

Gotta have something bigger if you're playing clan, specially against an Atlas and it's 9hex death radius.

330m x 540m on such an open map is too small for anything but an arena duel even with late Succession Wars tech. You either need room to manoeuvrer or heavy cover.

Myself, I consider anything less than 4 map sheets total to be too small for anything other than 1 on 1 battles.

I used to paint pewter minis of these things. I never played the game. I just won $300 worth of Ral Partha minis in a contest. I had fun painting and building a few of them.

I came across every PDF of the game and books and I want to play this so much, but I dont think it really is much like the clickey version of MechWarrior.

I'd feel sorry for your guys, but I've had the worst run of luck in fielding assault mechs, ESPECIALLY the Atlas.
A game between myself and

tsunami-dragon, so she could get the hang of the rules.
Turn one, she declares her Panther will fire on my Atlas, precisely 18 hexes away.

Double 6 to hit.
Double 6 for location.
Double 6 for the crit.
