So yeah, this was a thing. Here, we have Kelly taking part in the mummification challenge in "TORE!:" a Japanese game show that ran from 2011 to 2013 that was a spiritual successor or "DERO!" You know, I decided to have Kelly name video game characters who participated in the mascot wars of the 1990s because I figured Kelly was no video game buff (in fact, Mean Girls is basically a movie about a bunch of idiots). Kelly managed to get the three mascots everyone seems to talk about (Sonic, Earthworm Jim, and Bubsy); however, she somehow managed to get Awesome Possum out of her mouth. Does anyone remember that? No? Didn't think so.

I wouldn't consider Mario part of the Mascot War due to it already being on top. I'd be more surprised about Kelly getting Awesome Possum in because Awesome Possum isn't the most popular 90s game character and Kelly's a 43-year-old woman without much knowledge in the way of video games.
Side note, Kelly is from the Total Drama series, particularly from the spin-off "The Ridonculous Race."

I know of Aero the Acrobat, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, and Radical Rex. It was an odd decade, but what decade wasn't? Everyone and their grandma was either turning out animal mascots with " 'tude" or a grossout show that tried to match the grossness of Ren and Stimpy, but without the clever writing that made the gross jokes actually funny.
