Fruitcake CAN be nice, especially with how I do it.
I set it onto a shortbread base with a thin layer of caramel to help it stick and give the whole thing a generous coating of my home-made butterscotch sauce and when I serve it, I warm it up in the oven at a low temperature, only to get it lightly steaming and, after plating it up, each serving is given a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream.
