Power o de pencil!

You know it, dudehorse. Of course this scan is just horrible the original is much more "rich". Still I'm quite pleased with it.

That "is" the power of the pencil. I think pencil work is just as important as painting with watercolor, gouache or just pen and inks; it teaches us much about the subtle tonalities of shading. I'm still in learning mode with pencil, but I'm always amazed just how much I get out of it.

Oh yeah, i have a few books about pencil techniques, and you know. it ameks me cry cuz I look at those and just KNOW I'l not ever be anywhere near taht good. But yeah, pencil is an amazing media. OH! I got the offer from NC. hoping for one from north western arkansas though. Man, NC is just *SO* damn far from home. blah.

Hey, Karerease! I took this one nice and slow and though it was a bit labor intense, it was very much fun to do. I'm looking at pencil works in a whole new light now, trying to see just how much I can learn each time I work on a serious piece.

You know as well as me just how powerful a pencil can be!

There's my raptorlicious again! *wing hugs* My gratitude for the very nice comment, sexy beast. I'm learning with each pencil sketch that I do. I feel that pencil work is as important as digital, perhaps "more" so for certain reasons. I'm getting better with my bird heads, I'm not quite "there" yet, but I'm on the road.

i think your getting very good at drawing birds in pencil, mind you i think your pencil is just as good as digital, ^^ i sometimes would like to go back to sketching again and post up pencil work, but i really like how my ink and color art is turning out and i want to concentrate on getting better at that first.
