Inktober 3rd- Von der Decken's Sifaka
                    Another day, another lemur!!
Day 3's feature is the Von der Decken's Sifaka! These super cute lemurs are specially-adapted to live in the unique Tsingy de Bemaraha mountain range in northern Madagascar -- this habitat consists of incredibly thin, knife-like pillars of jagged limestone, which this sifaka is somehow able to navigate safely and effortlessly!
They are classified as Endangered and, sadly, have not been studied very extensively in the wild.
Fact #3!:
Although lemurs and monkeys are both classified as primates, they are hardly related at all!
Taxonomically, cats and dogs are as closely related as lemurs are to monkeys!
In fact, dogs and walruses are even MORE closely-related to each-other than lemurs and monkeys are!!
So if you wouldn't call a dog a walrus, or a dog a cat, then don't call a lemur a monkey!!
If you love lemurs (and, c'mon-- who doesn't??) and would like to help with their conservation, consider:
1. Raise awareness!! Spread the word about how badly these guys need help!
2. DRAW LEMURS!! Join us for #Hallowleem and the #WorldLemurFestival by drawing a lemur & sharing it online (along with information about how endangered they are!)
3. DONATE! The Lemur Conservation Network is a great way to look up different organizations, so you can find the perfect one to donate to!
