Page 4 as Kathalia reveals the job and her questionable plan to resolve it. Wanted to try a different style for Kathalia's narration and went with a cute chibi look. Not sure how it came out, but its a start! Let me know what you think!
Story continues:
Kathalia raised her mug and drank, muffling an already mumbled comment. Gwae didn't let it go and pressed again.
"Sorry, I dinna hear that. Ye were sayin' why ye got the daft notion to take a job from that madman? Last time I saw him, he burned down a village!"
"I lost a wager. I think that bastard weighted the dice." Kathalia admitted, taking another deep swig of her drink.
"That begs the question of why ye were gambling with him, but I don't think I want t'know. I'm surprised he has time to play in between burning people at the stake." Gwae sighed in defeat. "What's this job anyway?"
"A pretty lucrative one, should pull in as much as a caravan guard would, but much less time on our part. Seems there's a lycan that decided to target some of the villages on the outskirts of the Broceliande. Low level stuff so far, but you know how farmers get with this kind of stuff. Stop the raids, get paid. It's a pretty simple hunt."
"Nothing is simple in the Broceliande Forest." Gwae interjected. The forest was notorious on both sides of the veil as an exceptionally weak border, a realm neither in the human world, nor in Faerie. An in-between space, full of dangerous magic and creatures native to neither plane. Such a place needed to be treated with caution. "Engaging a lycan deep in the forest is an invitation to all sorts of nastiness."
"Don't worry, I have a plan for all that, minimal risk for us. I already did the hard part." Kathalia dropped her voice to a whisper. "I tracked it to this tavern, but it changed shape before I could identify it. Nobody has left since then though, so I know its still here! Just keep quiet ok."
Gwae nodded, cautiously glancing around the room at the patrons. Kathalia continued "Once the moon rises, the werebeast will leave to hunt, transforming into its other form in the moonlight. If you use a glamour, we can follow it undetected and learn who it is. Come morning, we can take deal with them when they are vulnerable. Perfect plan, huh?!"
