I found this gem when I had to go to the other side of the airport for a post maintenance check. It was way too cool not to pass on to everyone here.

I hope that they were able to fly her out, or at least get her in a sturdy hanger. Tying down on the hardstand is not a really good option.I remember a story/ movie that during the war, one of the b-29 bases was hit by a typhoon, and their solution, since they couldn't get the A/C out, was to taxi the squadron on the runways in to the wind. Literally flying at ground level. Makes a crazy kind of sense. THE COLONEL

It sure does...
I worked with an old Cuban fellow who pretty much did exactly that when working for Cubano Airways way back when. A hurricane came and it was too late to fly two of the DC-3's out so he and another mechanic filled them with fuel and taxied into the lee of the hangar. Whenever the winds would suck them out from the lee they would rev the engines and pull back in again. They spent the entire hurricane doing that. He said the company gave them a very 'nice' letter of appreciation - and that's all the got.

Surprisingly very little "Rule 34" stuff here on FA.
However, e621.net to the rescue.
This one's NOT filthy, but it struck me a VERY funny.

I love DC-3s.... and C-47s............... and the AC-47 spooky..... is she still in the flying?
I have home moves of AC-47s being flown by the USAF. I even have manuals, crew check lists and patches in my collection from AC-47 a pilot. I have a very special spot in my heart for the spooky.

So in the 1980s we sold some spookys to the Columbia Air Force. I know someone who was training them how to use them. Some are still in flight, but they have been converted to turbo props. They call it the fantasma or something like that. As for the US there is a few on “emergency war order status” but that’s it. Most of the ones at museums are C-47 transport dressed up like the spooky.

I built a model of the Hustler when I was a kid.
