Or if it's businesses trying to appeal by giving customers "bail out" deals
Or any of these dumb internet fad-word-jokes-dances everyone loves so much
I don't like them. It's not like I'm an above-everyone-else non-conformist, but I don't find the sheep mentality appealing.
I think fads are good because they're entertaining for so many people, and I am glad that something out there can unite everyone in a usually light-hearted way.
But when someone says a word or fad is dead when they're just going to go to a new fad and go around in the same circles...
it just makes me glad I can find some friends that don't cling to these things so often.
While this is clearly based off of http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/678277/ - I don't know anything about them or if they're like the person I'm ranting about. I've seen a lot of people uptight about a fad they like being "killed" and just got fed up with it enough to make this.

Very clever, Oxnard. When I viewed it, before reading your remarks, I interpreted it as what we in the Business Field refer to as "The Product Life Cycle." Basically, a company throws something out and some people like it, then they change it a bit and more people like it. This process continues down the pike until the product reaches "WILL IT DIE ALREADY!" status and those last minute stragglers pick up on it.
Then I read your remark. I was, eh, sort of on track. *cush-cush* You make a good point about all these internet fads and phases. Honestly, I have TOTALLY had enough of ol' Octomom. Though, I wouldn't mind a parody of her where they hooked her up with "Henry the Octopus" from "The Wiggles." It would be HILARIOUS!
Keep raging against that machine, Oxnard! Here's to the power of non-comformity and sticking up for that which you truly believe in! Baa no more!

Hehe, I don't think that's much different from what I'm talking about. :3 Maybe there's no specific individual that financially benefits from the fads online like they would with business, but the same hype is involved. :B Just a part of life that shows in many forms!
Octomom and Henry! :D He'd be able to hold each baby in the family picture anyways. :B
When I told my friend I was making a comic based off that journal, he made sure to remind me I was possibly poking fun at an admin. 8D If something makes you passionate, I don't think who it's based on is a good reason to scare yourself away from it though. :3 It just makes it look cooler in the end. ;P Ehehehe

Poking fun at an Admin, eh? How interesting. Though, like you said, that shouldn't scare you away from doing what you think is right in a creative and fair sense. Honestly, as long as you're not making a giant, neon sign that blinks and beeps while announcing "HEY, THIS PERSON'S AN IDIOT!" I do believe there is no problem with being clever off of what someone had to say. C'mon, isn't that what Jay Leno and David Letterman and countless comedians live and breathe off of? Satire is the spice-of-life. Without it, we'd be drab, blechy, and blah.
Besides, without whistle-blowers like you, we'd be stuck following nothing but fads all our lives. Being gifted with creativity and wit is what allows us to throw wrenches in the works of those who seek to turn people into sheep. We are the "Wild Cards" who force the comformists to look at themselves and realize either how silly they are in comforming, or that they have things they like more than just being a duckling to societal fads.
Huzzah! Oopa! And Gabby-Gabby-Gaboo!

Hehe, oh, I just chose a sheep since that's one of the ways people describe it. Wolf mentality, the bandwagon affect, or following the sheep herd.
When I showed my friend, he mentioned Sheep in the Big City. :3 I loved that old show! But I didn't think of it until after I already drew this. (:

Fascinating! I don't know why, but I just couldn't help but wonder about that connection and it racked my head all day. So, being the goof I am, I had to ask.
On a funny note, the way you describe how it happened is actually like the surprise I got after I drew my Ducky character. I thought he looked original. Then, I re-discovered "Dink: The Little Dinosaur." To my surprise, my Ducky had a lot of resemblence to Amber! I hadn't seen that show in years either.
Weird how the mind works. Yup!
