Lately, I've taken to making a bunch of practice sketches before I start working on any of my commissions or personal projects, just to help me get a stronger feel for the characters I need to draw. Yep, that's the new standard I set for myself from now on. It not only helps me get in right state of mind for drawing commissions, but it also makes the commissions so much easier to draw as well, since by the time I get started I'm already a bit familiar with what I need to draw.
