Absolutely beautiful work! Simple details, like the clean white lines on the face adding contrast and contour to the color pattern and shape of the character, go a long way in adding personality. I also like how you mixed simple cell-shading with smoother graded shading (cell shading on the character, and graded/cell shading on the environment); the contrast in style helps the character "pop" out, without detracting from the quality of the environment, and was done subtly enough not to make the two (character and environment) seem out of place with respect to one another.
