The lower shelf over my bed is for helicopters. (You can see the lamp and some minor clutter on my bedstead, below.)
The first chopper is a Bell "Huey" 212, painted for civilian use. I guess the high rotars are in case really tall and really stupid civilians try to get in. Next is the Boeing-Vertol CH46 Sea Knight, a venerable lifter still used by the Marines, barely visible behind that is a Bell 206 Jet Ranger (painted for the New York Yankees), next the Augusta A109, a beautiful hi-tech civilian craft with retractable gear, then the Aerospatial Dolphin, a CAF Cormorant (Rescue), and a variety of Apache and Blackhawks.
Don't forget to look in the mirror, far right! If you do, you'll be rewarded with the reflection of a three foot tall 1/96 scale model of a Saturn V with Apollo spacecraft. I built this from the first edition, back around 1968 or 1969, and the plastic has yellowed badly. I have to file some of the rough spots smooth again, and respray it white to bring out the pristine beauty of the kit. It's been re-issued from time to time, at horrendous prices. I've heard as much as $200!

If you think the lamp needs cleaning, you should see under the bed! But it does't get much cleaning either. There's six boxes of videotaped anime under there, a rock & fossil collection (stored in a .30 ammon box), and most of a Commodore 128 including daisey-wheel printer. It isn't worth getting it all out to do a cleaning...
