Listen, this is a species I have invented, so please don't steal it. you can use it if you ask me first, unless it's for commercial use.
A list of existing specimen can be found here:

Name of species: Chimaerons/Rehak Chimera/Chimaera mutatio vagus
First specimen: from the cellular stage, developed side by side with other lifeforms
Chimaerons are a special kind of hybrids due to their physiology. They repoduce asexually, laying an egg that is fertilized externally. They are all only one gender, one that would come closest to a female. Still they could have fathers, but they must be of another species, or the child will be the same like the mother. In fact there is a possibility that a chimaereon can have 0 to 3 fathers. And that's only possible to their unique biology.
The egg can be fertilized by species of three potentioal groups: Mammal, Avian/Reptiles and Fish/Amphibian. The egg will only take the genetic material of one specimen of each group and will adapt the best traits of each one of them.
The egg sends out a strange pheromone, which will change if there already one group had fertilized it. This pheromone is very strong and can be noticed miles away by any being that meets the requirements. It will stop sending out those pheromones after a week or if all genetic material is collected.
Once in a year the chimaereon will get into some kind of heat, searching for a fitting partner by smell. Some of them just lay the egg and return to it after a week, some will virgously defend it against those being unfit in the mothers eyes.
The cub will be fed with milk the first time, around 4 to 7 weeks which can luckily be given by any mammal if abadoned by the mother. Their later food source varies with the species. After that they will rapidly grow stronger, becoming adolescent in 12 years and ready for reproduction around 20. However, if the egg hatches without a parent the cub will grow adolescent in only half of the time. Depending on species again they can reach an age from 40 to 250 years.
Other than that only very little is known about them, since they vary extremely depending on their genetic pool. But even if the genetic sources would actually prey and predator they won't harm each other, some even forming a flock with others they meet.Listen, this is a species I have invented, so please don't steal it. you can use it if you ask me first, unless it's for commercial use.

that mechanism prevents that chimaereons die out in a habitat where no compatible lifeforms live, but hermaphroditism is still possible with them
