Inktober 5th- Raining Mouse Lemurs!
I guess I eventually had to fail at uploading stuff, so here we are! -- I was gone the past few days, so now I'm back & with a lot of lemurs to upload!
For day 5, I wanted to doodle some mouse lemurs, but couldn't decide on just one species... So, I drew a bunch!!
Included on the page are grey, brown, reddish-grey, Tavaratra, pygmy, and Jolly's mouse lemurs! -- However, the accuracy on them is fairly minimal TBH, because I have limited ink colors & also did not have good references for half of them. 8'D Ah well... At least that Reddish-grey one is accurate! (*ashamed sobbing*)
Fact #5!:
Much like this unexplained mouse-lemur-rain, there are a LOT of mouse lemurs!! In 1992, only 2 known mouse lemur species were thought to exit. By 2004, that number was up to at least 8 species.
Now, in 2016, there are at least 24 known species of mouse lemur, with over 1/2 of those having been discovered between 2005 and 2008-- talk about a "lemur flood"!!
If you love lemurs (and, c'mon-- who doesn't??) and would like to help with their conservation, consider:
1. Raise awareness!! Spread the word about how badly these guys need help!
2. DRAW LEMURS!! Join us for #Hallowleem and the #WorldLemurFestival by drawing a lemur & sharing it online (along with information about how endangered they are!)
3. DONATE! The Lemur Conservation Network is a great way to look up different organizations, so you can find the perfect one to donate to!
