I have to say, this one's pretty cute and charming to see. Kinda reminds me of my fursona when I made him a female-- well, provided you exclude the arm change, the wing, then add the striped details.

hell, I got fairlyn, Darkie, Aurora, Akemi, hikari, Inari, Silver, Katie, Voia, Autumn, Amber, Cassie, Amaya.. and a few pokemon, Ninetales too.. and Ninetails from Okami too.. (she just doesn't shop up too much)

and I think she's floating along easily enough, being agile and just floating along like she's a fish in the water just because she's that good at levitating.

Lol, for my total character count that I have for my OC list, I counted 48 total characters on my roster. XD
The kinds I have in the list are as follows: 3 unique types (wolfsune [me!], folf, and carbuncle), 12 wolves, 8 dragons and kitsunes, 3 foxes and huskies, 4 felines, and 6 Pokemon... plus a Tenko. X3

oh, I was up to having 150+ at one point.. but now I think I have seriously cut down..
I think I got about 50 myself.. and then adding in Flare and a load of others I'v borrowed from others.

As for explaining what a carbuncle is, well... that part might get pretty tough to explain. But I do know there's some art that shows what one would look like, if you need some ideas.

Yeah, I wasn't really sure what to make for that character's species, so I guess I wound up going with the decision by making him like a Carbuncle from the FF series. He's actually not the type you would summon, but just a Carbuncle creature in general. I'm not sure if I'll keep him like that, or if I'll make him a lombax instead. (yes, the Ratchet & Clank series pretty well inspired me to make a lombax OC. XD )

if you turn him into a lombax, do that mean he's going to get a full arsenal too?

Possibly, he does have quite the fighting potential in his own categories... hell, I could very well say that all of my characters could right so well with blades/guns and magic. X3

Well... a separate story might work on some terms, otherwise the Lost in Space story is where my thoughts are going to; question would be, what would be the proper sort of point for the debut?

yeah, I am thinking a separate story for it, really.
I feel that would be the best for me.
that and I still don't have a good fleshed out idea for Lost in space.

I guess a separate story might work better for the situation, otherwise, I think there could be a possible chance of making the entry possible in the "fantasy" stories you have lined up, or even that one series, "the resort," if possible.
