I always theorized on a more modern RPG setting (not shadowrun) with the same archetypes as the classics, I mean look at me in this, i'm a new age Bard and I love it ^_^ We have the bard, the mage, the fighter and the rogue all together in this. Metal actually wrote something awesome for this so i'll include it here:
The crackle of the fire seemed to stand out in the silence of the night as it burned, giving light to the campsite forged on the roof of the old building. The group had considered using one of the abandoned apartments for room space, but many of them were barricaded off or just flat out in too pitiful condition to be trusted, and it was far too late to go roaming from building to building looking for suitable camping quarters.
Of course, they all knew what they had signed up for when they decided to go into the city. The streets were flooded and filled with overgrowth, the progressive decay and lack of maintenance threatening to bring many buildings to the ground. Most people didn't like to leave the walls of their sanctuaries, knowing that as long as they stayed home the things that lurked in the urban wilderness could not reach them - or at least, that's what they told themselves. There were many nightmares to be feared; the bandits and raiders who would attack travelers, the monsters born from science run amok, and even stranger things for which no one knew what exactly they were.
And yet among it all, there was a sort of grim beauty. Nature reclaiming the environment in some places, and in others the environment changing to accommodate the alien nature of its new inhabitants. The old inhabitants were long gone - either in one of the sanctuaries, among bandit clans, or dead.
As Sled strummed the strings of his guitar, he took a moment to glance at the others. Metal sat next to him, his nose buried in a rather sinister looking magical book, and next to him was Yuri, holding his sword close, certain that when a fight comes he'd be prepared. Right across from him was Steve, rummaging through his bag of trinkets and baubles collected during their journey - of all of them, he would most likely bring the greatest profit from their adventure.
Their journey had been a tricky one up to this point, but they weren't quite done yet - not until they reached the next sanctuary.
