Yes, they always have. They're easy to miss in photos.
Dan D Lion was one of the early generation of fursuits with LED eyes (2012). They aren't very bright, so they're difficult to photograph and photographs showing his eyes lit up are kind of rare.
I had to replace the original LED's in 2014 when one of them shorted out. Unfortunately I couldn't find the cyan LED's like were originally used, and the brighter LED's everyone now uses weren't available yet. So his eyes are whiter than they used to be, but still not very bright. I like that because it's subtle and suits his character.
