A painting I started at a beach bonfire with friends, tho we had beer rather than martinis. SO MUCH SAND got embedded in this as I was painting! Ended up giving it a pretty cool texture though :p

Fantastic stuff! I've been a big fan of the vibrant colors you employ on your traditional pieces. Seeing these things in person is always such a joy. I'm really hoping I can achieve a similar vibrancy when finally printing my stuff on the right printer.
Once I settle down to a more permanent place, I'm totally getting into acrylics. It just looks like so much fun, especially emulating optically challenging things. This dude almost looks like Ravertooth!
How do you cut up the MDF? Just a regular table saw, or do you get it pre-cut?

I just cut 'em up like regular chickens.
Nah, I use a mitre saw and do it myself these days, BUT, often times the lumber yard (or Home Depot if you are unlucky) will cut it for you, and may or may not choose to charge a fee. A 4x3' sheet of MDF with cut fees comes out to about $12 usually, or you can spend $20 per panel on a cradled ArtBoard and miss out on all the cool absorbant qualities of MDF ;p
Acrylics are unending fun for me, and the mediums definitely open up a world of exploration. You should check out some of Golden Acrylic's mediums, there are some really fun ones if you want to play with layers that have depth AND transparency: https://www.goldenpaints.com/products
"ArtResin" is also tons of fun to combine with acrylic pieces :D
Thanks for the kind words, and I hope you get the chance to paint soon!

LOL @ the Eraserhead reference. Thanks so much for the detailed response! It sounds like I'd have the most luck going with the hardware store approach, especially since I don't have a garage of my own to do all the cutting yet. Also thanks for the link! These might be the paints I'll try using first. I look forward to finally being able to take all this stuff out to nature and take a crack at some water like Sargent or something.
