But to explain the relationship, King is a believer in the supernatural, however Professor Sycamore could not offer him a Ghost Type.
Having been given a Fennekin, he didn't expect much, until he learned his poke partner could do psychic and fire type moves.

Set on becoming a trainer, he attempts to learn pyromancyto better understand his Fennekin, eventually leading to severe burns on his right arm.
